Datacentre and colocation giant Digital Reality has announced the opening of its datacentre campus in Dublin’s Digital Profile Park, part of a phased datacentre development plan in the region.

The 10-acre site will support the development of a 15.36 megawatt Tier III datacentre spanning four buildings and totalling 85,000 square feet in raised floor space.

“Our investment in Dublin’s Profile Park was based on Ireland’s standing as a leading international location for technology and innovation,” said Bernard Geoghegan, managing director, EMEA & Asia Pacific at Digital Realty.

“The facility is designed to offer both local and multinational enterprise clients an excellent range of connectivity options into the wider Digital Realty ecosystem. It also features an indirect air optimisation system, which improves our clients’ data centre energy efficiency by lowering PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and therefore their total cost of occupancy,” Geoghegan said.

The datacentre is also BREEAM-certified “excellent,” a high ranking in terms of sustainable design. The firm said under testing conditions it was able to achieve PUEs of 1.15 and 1.18, putting it among the most efficient datacentres in Europe.

Digital Reality has partnered with a number of cloud providers, having built datacentres with Savvis (CenturyLink Technology Solutions), Rackspace and Google among others.
