No Disaster Recovery strategy, could mean no business

There is widespread mistrust of cloud providers across Europe with seven in 10 businesses failing to provide the right information on data recovery solutions. There will be discussions at the IP EXPO this week.

According to Gartner there are only 35% of European organisations equipped with a disaster recovery plan, which raises the need for an education process around this sector of business management. We need  a provider of data protection software and cloud solutions, to lead the efforts to drive the message home that an effective Disaster Recovery  (DR) plan is fundamental to any credible business operation, irrespective of position, size and sector.

This year’s IP EXPO is set to cover a range of topics on cyber security as well as backup and recovery, where the severity of the issue of data loss, in the Cloud and elsewhere will be a key issue.

Petrus Human of  Attix5 commented “The danger of apathy amongst businesses in developing and implementing a disaster recovery strategy is a serious worry for the industry, raising awareness of this is part of Attix5’s mission and we are pleased to see a number of industry colleagues doing the same at this year’s IP EXPO”.

There are so few organisations with a disaster recovery plan that the obvious choice should be for businesses to look at expert cloud providers offering Disaster Recovery As A Service (DRaaS) or even custom onsite or Hybrid DR solution providers. Most businesses have some sort of backup plan in place, but what happens when disaster actually strikes?

There is a need for innovative technology which will enable SMBs and SMEs to integrate fit-for-purpose DR solutions and the best route to market is through resellers, dealers and  the channel.

We need a data recovery offering, designed to instantly restore a business’ data and also have servers up and running in minutes in the event of a crisis. We also  need a cost effective high-availability solution within the small-to-medium segment.

One of the most significant challenges to business operations today is that recovery time and recovery points. It is important for businesses to get data transmitted and backed up as frequently as possible so that the data loss is minimal.
