Haivision Announces HIPAA-Compliant IP Video Solutions for Medical Markets

Haivision Network Video announced today that HIPAA security features are now available within their end-to-end video-over-IP distribution solutions.

HIPAA legislation is designed to assure the confidentiality of personal health information and related data. A key concern for healthcare organizations is to comply with HIPAA regulations and to assure that any system that they install maintains such compliance. Haivision's Furnace™ IP video system coupled with its Makito™ encoders now deliver such compliance through its support of AES encryption, conditional access, and detailed reporting.

Haivision's products are compliant with the "technical safeguards" as outlined in HIPAA's security rule specifically relating to access controls, audit controls, integrity, authentication, and transmission of electronic patient health information (ePHI). Further, Haivision uniquely offers the security of end-to-end AES encrypted IP video combined with the Furnace's unique client/server soft player InStream™. With these attributes, administrators address the fundamental requirement of controlling and reporting on exactly who accesses what data and when.

Dedicated to the medical market, Haivision is taking the lead on consulting healthcare customers by making available a "HIPAA Reference Manual" that assists healthcare organizations in establishing a risk analysis and management plan for securing ePHI.

"Haivision is delivering the most unique IP video technology to the healthcare segment," said Tom Pfeuffer, vice president of Medical Markets at Haivision. "We are also helping healthcare organizations to understand the technology and integrate it within their environments."

In addition to delivering secure HIPAA-compliant IP video, the InStream video viewing software of Haivision's Furnace system is delivered on demand and requires absolutely no installation on any client computer and works across all common platforms. This assures that Furnace IP video systems can be launched with minimal IT support.
